It’s been a while since our last post as we have just been so busy we haven’t had time to update our blog! Over the last 6-8 months we have obtained some amazing planning consents and are currently involved with several projects on site.

We have obtained planning for change of use in Chiswick from a single dwelling to 2no. Apartments and commercial retail space, working drawings are complete and works are starting on site any day now.  In West Drayton, works are about to start on site for the conversion of a light industrial unit to provide 8no. Duplex apartments.

Last year we were approached by a client in Horsforth, near Leeds for a loft conversion, previously they were working with a design firm that tried to obtain planning permission for a new dormer with terrace but the application was refused, an appeal was submitted but this was also dismissed.  We reviewed the previous application and appeal and were able to provide a revised design that not only included a terrace but also a much larger useable space within the loft.  The new application was approved without issue late December and we are currently working with our client to develop the working drawing package for tender.

In Billingshurst, West Sussex we are working on probably the largest domestic house extension we have ever been involved with, the existing property already has 8 bedrooms with vast amenity space and private access to a river that runs just 5m away from the house.  A new 234m2 extension wraps around the property in frameless structural glass and bronzed patina aluminium cladding with vertical slats.  The new kitchen extension will cantilever over the water capturing the morning and afternoon sun with fantastic views along the river. A glass link with art gallery will connect the two large extensions leading to a new gym area that over looks the external swimming pool.  Planning was granted in December 2019 and we are well under way with our full working drawing package ready for tender, we are hoping to commence on site mid to late 2020 with a view to completion late 2021/early 2022.

Here are some of the visuals for our Barnes project. The ground floor has almost double in size by means of a new single storey rear and side extension. We have compiled together joinery drawings for the bespoke kitchen and also provided the client with 3d visuals. This is great for determining whether to go light or dark there are so many options and items we can add or remove to ensure we meet expectations. If you struggle to visualise how a room will look or what type of flooring then these images can be really useful to determine the final outcome of the project. As you can see from the images we are able to easily change the colour of the kitchen to suit the many colour options available to suit our clients tastes.

Bedroom Joinery

We are currently working on our bespoke joinery packages for our project in Barnes.  Carter Designs were appointed to provide architectural services from concept to completion for a loft conversion, single storey rear and side extension, complete internal refurbishment and are also currently looking at the front and rear garden design.  Here is a sample of our 3d visual for one of the children’s bedrooms, we have also partially completed the design for the bespoke kitchen which we will post images soon.  These visuals are not only great for client understanding of what will be delivered but will also accompany our detailed joinery drawings so our talented master carpenter can see exactly what is to be achieved.

PD rights for rear extensions

After a long wait the government have finally announced that temporary PD rights have now been made permanent.  This means that subject to neighbour consultation you may be able to extend your property up to 8m subject to meeting the necessary requirements.  You can find out more details at The Planning Portal

Planning Permission Granted

We are extremely please to announce that planning permission has been granted for our extensive house refurbishment, extension and overhaul in Alwoodley at planning committee last week with a vote of 10-1 in favour. We are keen to get started on the working drawing package and will keep you updated with further progress once on site.
